Those are suggested actions during the anthem. Not rules. Not laws.

The NFL cant take a definitive stance on something like this because they would alienate half of their viewership with any decision they make.

Namath has a point, If someone who works at a mcdonalds wore a fuck trump shirt as an act of protest their boss has the right to tell em to take it off or your fired.

The reason its such a difficult thing for an NFL owner to do the same is because of the money and optics of it. I guess you can say someone like Jerry Jones has the right to demand his players stand or he'll fire em, but Jerry also has to deal with the consequences of that aswell and people dont like consequences that hit their pockets.
