Piper was good when he was a heel, he had charisma and really solid mic skills for his time( and Piper Pit was a great idea). Only drawback with him was his in ring ability, far from technical (but still leagues above people like Warrior and Hogan when it came to capability/skill set- but below others like Steamboat, Mr Perfect for example).


He could draw heat from the crowd more than alot of wrestlers even nowadays. 95% of wrestlers in the business today comes off wooden af on television/in ring/ promo. He came off way natural, no gimmicky feel to who he was, which is why he translated so well to film (Carpenter's They Live). That role felt natural, plus he was in the hands of a great director- the only time he ever was.


You can see Jericho drew alot of inspiration from Piper- in a good way.
