John was a football player who assaulted a black disabled team mate with his buddies. They shoved a coat hanger up his butt and kicked it in 3 times. The disabled teen was harrassed for a while. His team mates called him racial slurs and even drew a bus on a chalk board with the black teen in the back seat. The assault happened in oct. 2015 and took over a year to investigate. He will not be charged with a hate or sex crime, but plead guilty to committing a crime, just not a hate or sex crime. The final verdict will be given in february. I wonder if the recent events in chicago will change the judge's mind

To make an accurate comparison we're going to have to wait to see if the Chicago teens charges get plead down first just like John RK Howard. Also, it doesn't look like this was filmed or any kidnapping was involved. Definitely was sexual assault and a hate crime though.

I think the issue with this case being compared to the other is hearsay vs video evidence. It's hard for people, of any race, to sympathize with someone unless they really see it going on. I think the general consensus in regards to assault (whether sexual, violent or racial) is a bad one, and that goes for basically everyone.

You're right, there is an issue with the system in America, all you've done is support my argument about how fucked up America is in general in the first place

What is it you love and like about America?
What is keeping you there?

Don't confuse that for a "just move" argument, I'm not saying that, I'm asking what it is keeping you there, very different sentiment
