You're not wrong, but you and I both know it's not that easy. These companies have already established themselves with local politicians and councils/chambers. I tried to start a marketing agency based out of Denver a little while back and had to back out. I was met with mountains of paperwork and red tape and building regulations and postal issues. A couple of the other agencies in the area made sure I wouldn't even get a local phone number.
It's not impossible to create competition but it's very hard. And having slightly better prices is fine, but what if that slightly better is still 5-10 different internet packages within your internet package? If they all decide to take advantage of their new "freedom" it's still free market, and still fucks us.
I absolutely understand that things could remain exactly as they are, as far as the consumer is concerned. But the potential for fuckery is very real imo.
