also interesting that you say that's the defining quality of battle rap. do you think the approach URL takes, what with its battle culture remaining closer to that pioneered by the authentic hip-hop community, dilutes the potential for pure talent-based statements by tying artists into a cultural framework they need 2 appeal 2 in order 2 succeed? do you think the quality of non-URL battles are better than URL battles?
