My point is the gold grilles and cornrows weren't from his culture from where he grew up, if he grew up in a black area (street) where the grilles and cornrows were part of the culture, it wouldn't have come off as a gimmick like he does in his interviews.

No one looks at Paul Wall as an appropriator bcuz he grew up in Houston, TX where gold grilles were part of the culture

Ok regardless of where bra was at , he also identified with the culture. Enough to say imma get braids and a grill cus it looks dope. Then AFTERWARDS got in the studio and recorded a track that happened to blow up overnight.

I'm not even really offended by that (ok I am a little), I'm just shocked at how corny and goofy this dude comes off, and he's singing about swaging and saucing

If the dude was from the suburbs but was cool as fuck and seemed like he got bitches without making music, then maybe the music would sound believable.

But he comes across as a joke to me, because the music doesn't match his persona
