Ive nearly drowned like 3 times and it isnt painful at all. Personally Id have to vote burning alive to be the worst however the viets used to shove bamboo under the finger and toenails of pows until it festered and they succumbed to violently savage infection.
I think this would also be a terrible way to die it could take weeks whereas burning would be over in a min or two.
