The opener was so/so. I've come to a point where any time I hear Son/Sun e-clips/eat clips/Eclipse wordlplay, a piece of me dies inside. Son/sun is extremely common and any time I hear a schemer say it, I do my best not to skip the next 10 seconds of the material. The reason why this wasn't awful is because the second line about the Gumby haircut was nostalgic.

I didn't enjoy this. Clock wordplay is generic and this threw me out into left field because the set up was on a completely different topic. I have absolutely no clue who Billy Dee is. When I googled it, a black pornstar showed up. There were kids in the room. That was... unfortunate...

This didn't hit. The set up was okay but it didn't assist the following line. The punch wasn't even a punch because you were talking about yourself and not Surt. There is nothing wrong with doing that in a battle but talking about yourself only serves to purposes in a battle. 1. As a set up where you explain how great you are and the ensuing punch puts your opponent in the same situation or compares them to you except they fell to come close to the standard you set. 2. To completely style on your opponent. (See any Goodz Battle for further details). This did neither of those unfortunately and that's why I wasn't feeling it.

Not bad. This is what I meant in my last note Luca. See, in this set up you talked about yourself but in the second line, you made it relevant to Surf by comparing him to you. The punch could've been more creative but I'll give you some leeway for not making it a Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles line. Good use of in rhyming.

Good line. Great use of the in rhyme technique. The only bad thing about this is you didn't word the second line to end right after the punch. The punch in this line was "Like Worldstar all I got is ratchet shit". But the the line dragged on a bit after that. Pardon the imagery but imagine that your girl is giving you the ill deep throat and you bust. You begin to go limp and she starts sucking your dick again just until you get a semi and then she calls it a day. That's kinda like what happened here. I'm not trying to nitpick, I dug this line. It's just something to remember for the future.

The closer wasn't good. I'm guessing that the first line was a reference to the Fresco vs. Yung Ill battle. The second line was obviously an OJ Simpson/Superbowl reference but the punch went to talk about age. This closer was all over the place. The first set up was completely random and the OJ reference wasn't necessary because you didn't implement anything relevant to OJ in the punch line. If you're going to do a scheme, you need to make sure you keep it concise. Adding extra elements into it doesn't work unless you're going to continue to use that element until you finish the scheme. Failure to do so just makes it messy. I would've preferred if you would've taken out OJ and somehow incorporated Manning or Sherman or some key player from either team into the scheme.

Decent opener. I believe you were relying on letter wordplay to assist the punch since you were going to end up calling Luca "L". Since you only used three letters and only dedicated two bars to this, calling it a scheme would be a stretch. You could've added more power to the punch by skipping that altogether and just focusing on imagery. Having said that, I believe this punch template is becoming stale. "Put blank in the sky like:" and "Put blank in a box like:". It wasn't bad for an opener though.

This was a good angle but it wasn't executed properly. I like that you addressed his comments about your style but his busy schedule is irrelevant to your multis. I also believe that if your responding to your foe's negative opinion about a certain part of your style, showcasing that particular skill is the best weapon. You're defending how great your multis are (they're typically excellent) but in the same bar, you didn't make a clean multi. Given that I recite bars out loud when I'm critiquing them, I know that you rhymed here but it wasn't the usual crisp Surtified multi that we're used to. I would have really enjoyed had you chosen out a complex rhyme scheme and styled on Luca with it for a few more bars to prove that you really do have great multis. You know when people get called out for choking and when they try to address the choking, they stumble or choke? That's kinda what happened here but it wasn't anywhere near a choke or a stumble. It was just you tried to prove your opponent wrong but ironically enough, you may have reinforced that opinion.

From "So u like mob movies", you could've went on to tell us how A) Luca wasn't anything like the mobsters in movies or B) you could've went on to tell us how you'd kill Luca using Mob movie references. The punch to that was weak to me. And the Yo momma line was very Uno Lavos like but it wasn't funny because he says stuff like that in every battle.

Overall: This was an okay battle. I'd say 76/100. Line of the battle was Surt's "Stick your neck out", followed up by Luca's "All I got is ratchet shit". third was Surt's "L in the sky no THC". This battle was a rather peculiar battle to me. Both seemed to be off their game. And both weren't setting up their punches. They'd bring up one concept in their set up and then the punch wouldn't follow that same concept. They'd completely switch it out. This was a trend I noticed slightly more with Luca though. I did give Luca the edge in the rhyming department because his usage of in rhymes and Surt's multis were slightly forced at times. The wording to make the multis fit made parts of the verse seem unnatural.

I think Surt needs to work on how he words his verses. It's hard to tell because no one really uses punctuation but in one set up, Surt had three different sentences and that made the verse choppy for me. The part that threw me off about this battle wasn't only that Surt was rebutting, but he was rebutting and missing. Some hit, some didn't but rebutting in a one round battle gave him an advantage that almost made it unfair to me. However, there weren't any formal rules to go by so I can't hold it against him.

My vote was for Surtified. I edged it to Surt because of his closer. Having said that, with rebuttals, this battle shouldn't have been close. When you have the chance to see what your opponent says and respond, there should be nothing but haymakers. In spite of the rebuttals, Luca was one solid punch away from victory. I'm not placing blame on Surtified for using rebuttals. Luca initiated the battle and didn't put any rules in place. Surt took full advantage of his mistake. When all is said and done, there wasn't any foul play here. Should there be a round two, the thread maker would do well to set guidelines.
