If you are a champion in the ufc your are fucked due to the champions clause which auto-renews your contract on your second to last fight

I don't know if he negotiated a different contract but champion contracts are set up so that they are never going into the fight on the last fight of their contract

They can never negotiate with another company after a championship win and if they don't fight they are forced to retire as ufc has a clause that "freezes" and "resumes" their contacts
