There's been alot of boxing on the past couple weeks but, excluding Degale-Dirrell, none have been very compelling before or after the fight. Fittingly, boxing's #1 pound for pound shit talker returns to break the monotony.
Tonight on NBC @ 8:30pm EST, Adrien Broner, 30-1 w/ 22 KOs, squares up with Shawn Porter, 25-1 w/ 16 KOs. It's at a catchweight of 144 but even if he is a lil drained, Porter should still be the stronger guy. There seems to be a legit dislike between the two so, coupled with thier styles, it should translate to a great fight.
The event planners dropped the ball badly on staging this in Vegas. Both guys are proven ticket sellers in thier home state of Ohio, a home crowd would've added a great atmosphere.
After a year plus hiatus, Andre Ward also makes his return tonight, on BET at 10pm EST. S.O.G, 27-0 w/ 14 KOs, fights Liverpool's Paul Smith 35-5 w/ 20 KOs at a weight of 172(though Smith said fuck that noise & weighed in at 176). The few intriguing points here lie in how Ward reacts, to the higher weight, to the inactivity, to a way heavier fighter, & to the pressure of having to perform since he's Roc Nation Sports' number two guy.
