CM's ground game is definitely untested as far as the ufc goes but saying he has no ground game is foolish.

he made it to the quarter finals in the NO-GI BJJ tournament in 2012 (he beat some random gracie lololol) and was gonna compete again this year if his aldo fight allowed it.

Im not saying conor is better than aldo at jujitsu, but the people spouting that he is gonna get washed because of no BJJ are a bit deluded. look at how chad mendes did and conor has a bbj black belt up on him

Even the best wrestlers/technicians/bbj/judo/jitz fighters can get caught. I don't think anyone is saying CM has the BEST ground game, but to say it's non-existent because he has been beat there is silly. The ground is about misdirection and leverage, it's not a very complex concept. Anyone can get caught at any time.

he tapped within 10 seconds of the guy being on top of him, thats not getting caught thats getting wrecked, your 10x more likely to get caught by a lucky punch than a lucky submission

That much unexpected pressure on your rotator cuff is enough pain to make you tap without even realizing you're tapping. And I agree it's easier to get caught by a punch, but there's only a dozen or so ways to really throw a punch, there are hundreds of submissions that can be slipped in from tons of angles. And each one has multiple applications. If you have a wrestling background you know how hard a power-half nelson is to defend against, now imagine instead of trying to turn you they're trying to rip your shoulder off.


I think aldo has better odds on the ground, I don't think Connor is going to let him get there.

this is retarted, your saying conors level of bbj could make aldo tap, that makes no sense at all, conors entire game gonna be to stand up with aldo thats the only place he stands a tenth of a chance saying anything else is just insane, this isnt 2009 where any and everyone can get caught in something.

I realize that it was an arm triangle, I'm just saying it's easy to defend one thing and get caught in another. These guys are all professional MMA fighters, based on skill nobody should ever get beat because they do this for a living. But someone obviously has to lose, and even the best ground tactician can lose to a submission.


We'll just have to wait and watch the fight, but counting Connor out so quick isn't a good move.
