Amazing fight main eventing HBO tonight at 9:45 pm EST as Lucas Matthysee, 36-3 w/34 KOs, inevitably goes to war with Ruslan Provodnikov, 24-3 w/17 KOs. This fight has the potential to be over in the first with one shot, or be a back n forth war for 12 rounds.
La Maquina Matthysee has very heavy hands, good offensive technique, & decent footwork. He's gonna look to do damage with the straight right & left hook. The Siberian Rocky has crazy pain tolerance to go with his no mercy pressure style.
The opening bout features Terrance Crawford, 25-0 w/17 KOs, vs Thomas Dulorme, 22-1 w/14 KOs. Omaha rep "Bud" Crawford is has alot of talent & the potential to grow even more. Good offense, good defense, & the best switch hitter I've seen (iirc, he fought most of his fight with the god Yuriorkis Gamboa as a southpaw successfully). Only thing I know of Dulorme is once he stepped up his competition at welterweight, he got destroyed by Carlos Abregu.
Showtime also has a card on at 10 pm EST. The opening bout features up & comer Amir Imam vs Walter Castillo. More interesting tho is the main event with Andrzej Fonfara, 26-3 w/15 KOs, vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 48-1 w/32 KOs. I've read Fonfara is a decent light heavyweight who put up a good challenge to Adonis Stevenson last year. Chavez is now at a new weight, with new trainer, & renewed passion(supposedly). No idea how he campaigned at 60 for so long, he still looked drained weighing in at 172. His attributes are a tough chin, great body attack, & a pressure style. Lets see how much damage his punches cause at this weight.
