Apparently these guys were apart of a "troll farm" which is what Putin hinted at a while back ago.
Putin said the Russian government had nothing to do with it, but he said it's "theoretically possible" a group of patriotic Russians would do things they think are in the interests of their country. He acknowledged his citizens are doing this, but made clear the Russian gov wasn't involved. This was a year or so ago, or maybe 2 years ago he said this. Now we've indicted 13 people who were involved or running these kind of operations.
For the non-tech savvy retards out there. Essentially what they did was create a bunch of social media accounts and would propagated political narratives on both sides to create conflict and friction among the American electric. We also know Russian companies were buying Ad space on FaceBook which used the same tactics of pinning people against each other by reinforcing political narratives.
