look for a torrent of windows 7 black. its windows 7 with a streamlined kernel and built in windows blinds. has a few different "networking" tools that may or may not be useful for you in the future.

If you are new or unfamiliar to linux, Ubuntu is probably going to be the easiest install for you, followed by mint. I would go wth Ubuntu since you have Win7, as it seems to work a little better with older computers imo.

Korora is my personal favorite, zorin might be a little trickier to install but has similar layout to windows.
