"The history of sampling and the legalities involved," Only thing it says in the description about it.

Only peeped about 10 mins of it thus far. Never seen it before, not sure how in depth it goes but some of the interviews seems interesting. Touches on the topic of some of the people outside the hiphop genre opinions about it being cheap/takes lesser skills to sample as opposed to creating something from scratch (The guy who worked Nirvana for example). But i really like Shock G opinion of it.

Paul's Boutique is a slept on album- seems like only a a small fraction of hiphop heads and underground hiphop producers appreciate that album and talks about it, you could never get away with a album like that nowadays (same goes for 3 Feet High & De La Soul is Dead...)

(unless of course you're Jay or Kanye but thats gonna cost $$$ big time- or obviously if it's a free downloadable mixtape, but I'm more so talking about being commercially released to the public and paying each and every clearance)

Id put Paul's Boutique in the top 25 hiphop albums of all time.

This one should prob have its own thread but fuck it. I seen this vid over a yr ago.

Roundtable discussion with Just Blaze, 9th wonder, Khrysis, and Che Pope.

Worth seeing anybody even remotely interested in making music in hiphop or just real hiphop fans in general. They all talk about inspiration, they're own working process, past sessions with artist/the story behind certain beats, lessons they learned during their career ect just some gems. Seeing this as a native instrument vid is misleading- this isn't a 2hr commercial for Maschine, the content of this video exceeds those restraints.

Only thing thats shitty is they the beats of the producers that they play is muted, prob cause they don't want to get hit with copyright strikes on the vid.

Don’t know if they mention it but one of the first uses of sampling was Dickie Goodman from Brooklyn who made ‘break-in’ novelty records as early as the 1950’s
where snippets of songs would break in ...
Matter fact you’re a film history person so you’ll love this lol
These ....... are ......... tha BREAKSSS
